This years competition was held at Low Laithes Golf Club. The turnout was 100% and everybody was on time. Before the competition started it was threatening heavy rain and it looked like it was going to be washed out. But it didn't and although there was a dreary outlook it stayed dry for everyone all day. The course was in excellent condition which is a credit to the ground staff. Mr Vice President Roy Gillott who arranged the day had requested that when the flag positions were done there would be six easy,six medium and six difficult placements. All the players said afterwards they could not see which ones were the easy positions. A lot of the golfers said that it was tough on the the course and the scoring reflected this. Only two players came in under par and they were from the Bradford and Halifax Areas. As the results came in it became clear that it was going to be a close race to the finish and it proved correct with Flamborough Area lead by their President Phil Leadbetter pipped the two nearest teams by only 4 shots.Well done Flamborough.

The Catering staff were on hand from 9am until we finished 7.30pm. Their hospitality was excellent and the presentation and taste of their food was even better. If any of you clubs want to have an away day then look no further than Low Laithes. After this day they have proved they are well worth a visit. Thank you Caroline for making everybody welcome.

Obviously competitions like these don't just happen and this was reflected in the Presidents speech in the evening at the presentation when he thanked all the organisers for their efforts on and before the day. He congratulated the winners and commiserated with the other Areas but overall he thanked everybody for helping to make it another successful Plowright Trophy.
