General


1. All players in the YRGA competitions must be a Rabbit Golfer as defined in the YRGA Constitution and Rules
The handicap record of any player in the YRGA must show that the player has played in a minimum of 3 Qualifying Competitions the 12months period immediately preceding the date of the competition.
The player must have playing rights at his home club to play without any additional payment on the day and time of the YRGA competition

2. Competitions will be played according to the Rules of Golf as amended by the local rules applicable to the course where the competition is being played

Thornton Rules

1. Each member Rabbit Section may enter one team of two player comprising one each from handicap divisions 16-20 & 21 -28


2. The competition shall be singles stroke play over 18 holes and the team with the lowest NETT score will be declared the winners of the Thornton Trophy. They will receive prizes in addition. The runners up will also receive prizes


3. There will also be individual trophies and prizes as follows:
Norman Watson Cup – Best Gross Score
Fred Brown Salver – Best Nett Score
The Norman Watson Cup will take precedence over the Fred Brown Salver
Prize for Best Nett score 16 -20
Prize for Best Nett score 21-28
No player may receive more than one individual prize

4 In the event of a tie the Executive will make awards on the result of:
o the last 9 holes
o the last 6 holes
o the l;last 3 holes
and so on down to the final hole if necessary.


5 Players must submit a current official handicap certificate from their club by 1800 Hours on the day of the competition

6 Players must report to the YRGA officials at least 30 minutes before their starting time
Failure to do so will result in their being slotted into the field when the officials can arrange it, but this maybe at the end of the field. They will also incur a 2 shot penalty.



 

 

Fowler Rules

 

1. This is a CLUB knockout foursomes tournament played off scratch over 18 holes with the final being played over 18 holes. The matches will be played from the gentlemen’s forward tees unless the home club committee has a local ruling that states that some other tees must be used.


2. Each member Rabbit Section may enter two teams, one of which will play in Section A and the other in Section B. Each team shall comprise two players, one each from handicap division 16–20 and 21-28. Handicap certificates shall be exchanged prior to each match tee- ing off.


3. The Grand Final shall be played between the winners of Section and Section B.


4. A draw shall be made and a copy shall be forwarded to every member Rabbit Section having an interest. Matches in the preliminary round will be played on the course of the club drawn first and there after in accordance with the markings on the draw sheet which shall have been prepared before making the draw


5. In the event of a tie in any match the players will continue until one team gains the advantage of one hole


6. A team may be changed to suit circumstances of player’s availability or handicap changes. Any player however may only play in either Section A or Section B but not in both.


7. It is the responsibility of the member sections to arrange their matches by the specified dates except in case of Section Semi-finals and Grand final. Which shall be played on neutral courses on dates to be arranged by the Fowler Trophy Representative


8. The result of each match must be passed to the competition representative by the Tuesday morning following the closing date given on the draw sheet. Failure to do so will result in both teams being deemed to have scratched.


9. The member Rabbit Section represented by the winning team will be awarded the Fowler Trophy which they will retain for a year. In addition each member Rabbit Section represented by the overall winners and runners up and runners up of each section will receive a trophy for their permanent retention.


10. No player may take part in the third or subsequent rounds unless he has submitted at least two stroke play competition cards during the three months prior to the relevant match.

 

The referee for the section finals and the overall final will require current official handicap certificates and his decision is final


11. Any disputes should be referred to the competition representative in writing for consideration and his decision is final.

 

Plowright Rules

 

1. This is a team competition with the teams selected by the Presidents of the different Areas in the Association who should ensure that his team have the correct Handicap Certificates on the day of the competition ie

4 players in Handicap range 16-20

4 players in Handicap range 21-28

Handicaps must be current.

He should if requested by the Committee produce the relevant Full Certificates

Any team failing to field the correct number of players from each division will be disqualified

2. Play will be individual stroke play over 18 holes

The three best cards in each division submitted by each team will count and the team with the lowest total nett will be declared the winners.
