Welcome

Martin Walker President 2025

President's Charity 2024

Hello to all YRGA members,
Welcome to our 2025 season, as your new President first I would like to congratulate Richard and thank him for doing a great job in his year as 2024 President it was a pleasure working and playing golf with him, I hope I can keep up the standards set by all the past presidents.
Myself, growing up in Moortown Leeds I was in very close proximity to many great golf courses which I got to know earning extra pocket money as a young teenager by caddying but never considered playing golf myself I didn’t know anyone who played golf, move on 25 + years nearly 40 yrs of age out of the blue a work colleague asked if I fancied trying golf with him so with a borrowed H set of clubs off we went I must say I never saw how that would turn out, after 2 yrs hacking up the fairways in 1990 I decided to join Roundhay G.C. very soon after playing in the competitions I joined the rabbits team and loved it. In 2005 I joined the rabbits committee followed by rabbits captain in 2010 after which I became the Roundhay delegate to the LDRGA and the rabbits secretary, in 2019 I was proud to become the LDRGA President and now here we are.
My thanks go to the LDRGA executive for my nomination to this position also thanks to all the people who have helped and supported me through this journey which started with me having fun on the golf course with friends and I must say the fun hasn’t stopped.
I hope all the new up and coming rabbit golfers have as much fun and camaraderie as I have enjoyed, also I ask that we all try to mentor new or young golfers to play the game in a competitive spirit but not forget that we do this for fun, if you immerse yourself in rabbits golf I assure you, you will meet some great characters, and you will laugh a lot!
My wish for everyone is a healthy enjoyable year in all things but especially your golf, play well!

Martin Walker
