Welcome

Geoff Senior President 2023

Message from the President.

Welcome to the 2023 YRGA Season

We can all look forward to our golfing season ahead now that, hopefully, Covid is well behind us.

I would like to welcome the new Fowler Secretary, Kevin Dwyer. He succeeds Derrick Howell who has served the Association so well for many years. Kevin will be completing the 2023 draw in early March to start the new season and this will appear on the website very shortly.  Please try to complete your matches and report the results on time in order to make Kevin’s job as easy as possible. Most of all enjoy playing, visiting other golf clubs and meeting new opponents in this competition which began more than 70 years ago.

The Thornton Trophy was first competed for in 1938 and this year it will be held at Woodhall Hills Golf Club on 22nd June. The website will show further details a little later in the year. I am sure all those fortunate enough to represent their club will enjoy the course. In most years this competition is held at the home club of the President but this is not possible this time. My home club of East Bierley has only 9 holes and unable to accommodate the numbers on the day. I will however be delighted to welcome any YRGA club member anytime at East Bierley for golf and/or a drink to celebrate the Centenary year of my little club.

Best wishes to all members of YRGA. Keep healthy and enjoy your golf.

Geoff Senior, President
